The Beck Centripetal Force Apparatus is designed to appeal to students, provide excellent data, and stay out of the repair shop. It is surprisingly heavy, the rotating assembly alone weighing more than five pounds (2.3 kg). Mounted in two large ball bearings, it is smooth and consistent at any reasonable rotation rate.

Radius points for the test mass are indicated at 14 through 22 cm by a machined aluminum assembly. Also, radii of the inboard end of the spring can be varied through a range of 5 cm. Steel parts are stainless. Castings have an enamel finish.

Length and height are about 33 cm.
